Another Police Officer is tried on Sexual Offences. Fortunately this one was cleared albeit by a jury consisting of 12 men. We wonder who were the investigating officers? Was it GMP's finest the "Professional Standards Branch or the Internal Investigations Unit as they seem to be known now?. You might be able to change the name but you cannot change the practices.

Now we don't know whether the cop named in this article is a wrong un but we do know that he was found Not Guilty so that says he is innocent. He is still suspended from work and may face disciplinary proceedings for Misconduct in Public Office. Why, you might ask when he was found Not Guilty? Well it seems that charging coppers with sexual offences is the new way to boost the statistics of GMP and especially the Internal Affairs. Of course you might wonder if there is something about the brave men of the Internal Affairs branch that makes them want to concentrate on offences of a sexual nature. Obviously they also investigate all complaints against officers as thoroughly. Erm, no they don't. As we have said on this site several times, GMP have moved Heaven and Earth to avoid investigating David Abbott's complaint against Detective Sgt Paul Barnard for Perjury, Conspiracy to Pervert the Course of Justice and several instances of fabricating, altering and deliberately hiding evidence.

You may recall that David took the IPCC and GMP to Judicial Review over their refusal to record his complaint. The Court stated that the IPCC had acted unlawfully in refusing David's appeal and it was agreed that the IPCC would instruct GMP to investigate the complaint. GMP did write to David and tell him that his complaint would be recorded at the beginning of April and that senior officers such as Assistant Chief Constable Sweeney would write to him within 14 days. That never happened but, this week David has rec'd a letter from the Complaints Manager of GMP Internal Affairs telling him that GMP have asked the IPCC for dispensation  from any further investigation of his complaints.

So, they hound these other officers into Court and quite often into prison, they take no notice of a Court decision such as Not Guilty and still try to get their "result" through disciplinary procedures, but they want dispensation from investigating Barnard? Why? because they know we have a case, they know that Barnard is a corrupt police officer, who will go to any lengths to stitch up someone he does not like or who falls foul of him. Why are they going to such great lengths to shield him? We can speculate of course but at the end of the day it comes down quite simply to stupidity and arrogance born out of years of getting away with it.

There is a case in the news today about Jody McIntyre a wheelchair bound man who was dragged out of his wheelchair and hit with a baton in the student protests of December last year. Scotland Yard have said that they were justified in dragging him out of a wheelchair. When in the bounds of normal decency is it ever "justified " to drag someone out of a wheelchair and then hit them with a baton? Do these police officers think they work in Syria or Lybia?

What all this shows is two things. The first is that the police complaints system is a complete joke that the police themselves use to their advantage in never admitting fault. The second is that GMP know clearly that Kristian Abbott was wrongly convicted and stitched up by Detective Sgt Paul Barnard and that they are moving heaven and earth to deny him his right to justice. They are obviously hoping that the family and their supporters will simply give up and go away. That will never happen as they have now given the cause so much ammunition to tackle them through the civil Courts and to hurt people like Barnard where it hurts most, in the pocket. What will the IPCC do next? Will they pander to the GMP like they did last time and grant dispensation? They had better make sure that they get their reasons right or we are sure that David Abbott will go back into Court and demand another Judicial Review into that decision as well.  You would think that instead of constantly dragging their whole force, including Chief Constable Fahy, further into the mire they would simply call it a day and investigate Barnard.

Do you think they will do that? Nah neither do we because they are simply too stupid. That stupidity has already cost the taxpayers of Manchester in terms of police time and money not to mention legal costs for lawyers for the Judicial Review. That is nothing to what it will eventually cost them in compensation for Kristian. That is money that would have been better spent on fighting crime which is what the taxpayers of Greater Manchester pay them to do.
