What on earth is going on with Greater Manchester Police Force? It seems hardly a day goes by without another officer being charged for something. Whilst one has to commend the force for trying to root out the bad ones it only seems to stretch as far as the ordinary coppers and not to the “Professional Standards Department” of GMP.
When a police officer is arrested for something or has a complaint made against them in GMP, the PSD swoops down on them and examines the case against them. But here comes the difference, make a complaint against anyone from the “professional Standards” Department and what happens? They just ignore you.
All these revelations about police officers doing wrong makes you wonder just what kind of a force Mr. Fahy, the Chief Constable, or as he is becoming more widely known around Manchester, “The Rainbow Warrior”, is running. As I said earlier it is commendable that bad apples are being caught but would it not be better if the Chief officer spent a little more time on sorting out the discipline in his force instead of constantly seeking publicity by stunts such as the rainbow flag above GMP HQ?
After thinking long and hard about it, David Abbott has revealed to us that he has finally received a letter of apology from AC Terry Sweeney of Greater Manchester Police…
